How To Volunteer

We are always keen to welcome new volunteers into our Group and you can help in the following ways:-

Drivers

Bakers, Cooks and Helpers In The Hall

Volunteers are required to help in the Hall and duties include setting up tables, serving food and drink, socialising with our guests and helping clear up afterwards, including washing up.

If you can cook and bake then you will also be very welcome.  We aim to serve only home made food so bakers are required to make cakes, scones and sausage rolls while cooks are needed to help with food for our lunches.

Please note that it is a requirement that anyone who will be handling food undertakes an online Food Hygiene Course which we will pay for.

Drivers collect our guests from their homes, stay with them at the tea or lunch and return them home afterwards.  You will need to have a “normal” sized, ideally four door car which is easily accessible to an older person who may have mobility issues. Also, we have some guests who need to sit at the front of a car and drivers need to be able to transport a walking frame or wheelchair.

You will be required to undertake an online DBS check (which we pay for).  Also, to fill in a short volunteer application form and confirm that you have told your car insurers that on occasions you transport older people to and from events.

Our philosophy is that our drivers sit and have afternoon tea (or lunch) with the guests and we are very keen to encourage this social interaction.
